Chess Peace

A game by Character Limit (Do 1000 Znaków), part of the Diigital Game Design Championship Cyberiada.

The game is currently under development, this is an early build.

An indie game inspired by classical chess, awarded Metroidvanias, and set in an abstract, surreal fairy-tale landscape. It invites players to take part in an adventure where the desire to ascend meets limited abilities, where a pawn can rely solely on its own strategy. 

FIND YOUR PATH 

As a pawn who falls from the board, you’ll try to navigate the vast chess landscape and conquer figures unable to escape their memories of war. During your journey, you will learn new movement patterns, explore the colorful regions of World Below, and meet its residents. 

ADAPT YOUR STRATEGY 

Choose a new moveset and attack set for each part of your travels. Learn to adapt to the different challenges offered by parts of the World. Unlock next abilities and reach pathways that were unreachable before. 

EXPLORE WORLD BELOW

Find a way through the guarded brick Gate, pass the bridge of the Emerald Ways, wander and immerse yourself in the Blissful Lands, and learn the different concepts of alchemy in the Shining Seminar. Reach the solemn Lighthouse and decide how your journey ends…

MEET THE RESIDENTS 

Encounter many fascinating characters who have found purpose in the regions of World Below. Learn about their story and help them fulfill their dreams. Jump over fences with the Knight-errants, zoom through narrow corridors with the Messengers, travel exhausting lengths with the Fortresses. 

DIALOGUE WITH THE CLASSIC

In this strategic chess experience, explore new ways of thinking and immerse yourself in the World Below. While backtracking, find new solutions to once unbeatable problems. Speak to the residents, learn about their beliefs, and understand the grandeur of your journey.
